Chris BeukesChris Beukes – CEO

Chris is a former member of the South African Police Services. He was a member of the South African Police Special Task Force. He was involved in the planning and execution of numerous operations.  He left the unit in January 1999 and started TSU Protection Services (PTY) Ltd in February 1999.
His security experience includes working as a Security Advisor too many fortune 500 companies, tasked with the protection of many CEO's and other VIP clients. He has consulted many corporate executives and corporate companies with security plans. The company was involved in protection and security work for clients during the Soccer World Cup in South Africa, as well as overseeing the execution of the security plan. 

He has brought many high caliber experience security specialists into the TSU Group Holdings - Group.  Many were previous colleagues from the SAPS Special Task Force, Presidential and VIP Units.  Not only are services rendered to local companies but TSU Group Holdings provide services to some of the largest companies in the world;  mobile, law firms, mining industry, IT companies, retail companies, bank groups etc.

With 26 years of experience in the security field he has built the company to 1700 full time permanent employees.  He is also on the Board of Directors of TSU Protection Services, TSU International SA, TSU Protection Services Namibia, TSU International UK, A.M. Security, TSU Protect and TSU Training Solutions which all form part of TSU Group Holdings. 

Steven Lochner Steven Lochner – Director TSU Protection Services Namibia

Steven finished his service with the SA Defence Force as instructor and troop sergeant with one of the special service battalions, in 1982. His SADF service included hostile environment deployment.

He completed the SA Police S.W.A.T course.

He holds a black belt in martial arts and practiced in different systems of combat sports. During years of participation he acquired champion status and medals in different sport combat arts. He was appointed the SA representative to the “International Vale Tudo Council” (Brazil), in 2001. Until currently he is the only Mixed Martial Arts instructor in Africa who has had a student that fought an opponent who became UFC world champion. One of his former students moved abroad and became the holder of x3 international MMA titles.

He used to be in control of a nightclub and entertainment protection unit in SA. Through a period of about 15 years, he was responsible for security at special events and nightclubs. He survived an assassination attempt during which he was shot a couple of times, and survived through the grace of God alone. Today he sees this, and the fact that he was also stabbed, seriously wounded by an explosives device and the many physical street altercations he took part in and observed, as good practical experience without trying to be vain about it. He sees it in a positive light, and as a wonderful opportunity that was afforded him. This experience is invaluable and came in good stead when developing courses in realistic self-protection concepts. He founded NEVPA (Nightclub and Entertainment Venue Protection Alliance), through which he amalgamated bouncer and special events security outfits believed to be clear of drugs and organised crime influence.

His training in the private tactical and security related environment, led to him training with colleagues from the local special forces environment, as well as instructors from different foreign countries.

He is well-versed in the training and handling of patrol dogs. He has many years of practical experience in the K9 environment.

He is the author of the CQS (Close Quarter Survival) course that specialises in survival of attacks within the 0-5m radius. This course is popular with law enforcement, security professionals and civilians alike. He has been active in the Executive Protection environment as CPO, Team leader and Detail leader since the mid 90’s. His clients included mostly corporate executives, but also some of the world’s most well-known celebrities of the time.

Johan Fryer – Head of Training & Education

Johan joined the South African Police Service in 1985. He was stationed at the SAPS Tshwane College itself and was utilized as a Musketry Instructor. In 1993 he did the Special Task Force Training course. He did his entire advance training courses during that same year and was utilized as a Special Task Force Operator during his time stationed at the unit. He was also intensively involved in developing courses for the SAPS, specialised units within the SAPS and other units. In 2006 he was transferred to the STF Operational Unit where he was utilized as a subject matter expert in the presentation of Rural Survival and Sniping courses presented as elective training for the unit’s first tier operators.

His operational experience involved numerous operations which have included the release of hostages from buildings the release of kidnapped hostages, apprehending armed and dangerous criminals, joint cross-border operations to destroy arms caches, deploying in a counter sniping during the protecting and visiting of numerous Heads of State and foreign dignitaries on official visits to South Africa, protecting the President of South Africa and numerous high risk operations as well. Johan joined TSU Training Solutions in 2016 as Head of Training & Education.

Johan Fourie Johan Fourie – Course Leader

Johan joined the South African Police Service 1987. Johan joined the SAPS Riot Control Unit where he gained his experience as a subject matter expert in the riot control environment. During his time at the unit, he was deployed to various riot situations in Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal. He was promoted to the position of Section Commander and was in control of various Sections during his Operational deployments.

In 1993 he joined the Special Task Force. In 1997 he completed his Instructors Course in the SAPS Special Task Force. As an operational member of the Special Task Force for 11 years he was involved in numerous operations which have included the release of hostages from buildings and a hijacked aircraft, the release of kidnapped hostages, apprehending armed and dangerous criminals, riot and crowd control, rescuing flood victims, joint cross-border operations to destroy arms caches, protecting a number of foreign dignitaries on official visits to South Africa, protecting the President of South Africa and numerous high risk operations as well as counter-sniper duties.

Johan left the unit in 2004 and worked in Iraq on the PSD Teams protecting various high risk, influential business people. Johan joined TSU in 2011 and qualified as an Assessor with SASSETA. He also qualified as an Advanced Level Instructor with ITA (PFTC), and Advanced Driving Instructor with Gerotek.

Pearce de Klerk Pearce de Klerk - Operations Director: TSU Protect (Pty) Ltd.

Pearce de Klerk is a multi-skilled individual with vast experience in the security operations and consulting industry across several business sectors in South Africa, other African countries and the Middle East. He has also held senior management positions in diamond mining and gold exploration operations in South Africa and Tanzania. Utilizing this wealth of knowledge and operational experience, Pearce currently manage TSU Protect (Pty) Ltd, a company providing niche electronic security solutions and applications, while at the same time play a leading role in Consulting Services across the TSU group of companies by conducting Security Risk Assessments, Security Audits, Crisis Management Advisory and developing tailor made physical security strategies for individuals and corporations. Pearce is a former member of the South African Police Service Special Task Force and holds a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree from the Southern Business School in South Africa. Operating from the Western Cape, he is also the owner of Stylesecure Home Improvement (Pty) Ltd, a company based on the West Coast specializing in stylish residential and commercial security barrier solutions.

Sibulele Dondashe Sibulele Dondashe - Director for TSU Training Solutions

Sibulele Dondashe has sound knowledge and experience in the implementation and monitoring of compliance processess as well as legislative requirements for procurement. Sibulele holds a qualification in Financial Information Systems with experience in Supply chain management, contract management and compliance. Her understanding of technological systems aligned with her experience has proven to add great value to the organisation. Her passion is to provide guidance to company business units by Assisting in coordinating internal compliance reviews and monitoring activities, action plan development and monotoring new and existing legistlation to ensure corrective measures are in place that prevents non-compliance. Other attributes and skill sets are;

  • Ensuring appropriate systems, processes and procedures are in place.
  • Providing compliance analysis support, workshops and communication.
  • Management of compliance committee and deliverables.
  • Serve as an advisor to all departments in procurement.
  • Ensure effective and efficient running of the tender processess.

After several years in the industry, Sibulele is a valueable asset to the company and offers a fresh strategic vision and Value to the business as a Director for TSU Training Solutions that also form part of TSU Group Holdings (PTY) Ltd.



Adriaan J Vermeulen Adriaan J Vermeulen - Instructor (Cape Town)

In 1985, Adriaan served in the Defence Force Medic in Potchefstroom. He then serves as a Prison Warden at the Pollsmoor Maximum, Correctional Services from 1986 to 1990.

He worked at the LCRS (Local Criminal Record Centre) Fingerprint and Photography as a Crime Scene Expert FROM 1992, as well as at CIAC (Crime Intelligence & Analyse Centre) and as a FTO (Field Training Officer) in Milnerton WC. Adriaan resigned as Warrant Officer in the Local Task Team for Gang & Taxi Violence in 2001.

From 2003 till 2005 he formed part of the Municipal Police as a Precinct Commander - Liaising Officer.

In 2007 Adriaan joined SBV Services in Cape Town as a CIT Instructor, he also completes his Advance Driving at Gerotec and registered as an Assessor & Moderator. Adriaan completed the following courses in 2015: Ronin CPO graduate & STC Ship Security Officer (SSO). He joined TSU Training Solutions in 2016 as an instructor in Cape Town.

Arthur Wells Arthur Wells - Instructor (Cape Town)
Arthur Wells has qualified in Seek Find and Trust 1 & 2, in 1999, thereafter he had basic Police Training and also completed the C.A.R.E Course by 2002. During 2003 and 2004, Arthur continued training at the Police Service College, and qualified in Special Weapons and Tactics 1 & 2. In 2005 he obtained Self Defence, Human Rights & Policing, Abuse / Assertiveness Training. He also completed his PSIRA Grades up to A Grade.

From 2007 - 2010 Arthur received Tactical & Vehicle Movement & Debusting, Tactical Shooting, Surveillance & Counter Surveillance, House Penetration & Teazer Training. He also received his competencies for Handgun, Shotgun & Self-loading Rifle for Business Purposes.

He went further and completed as a Basic Life Support Medic in 2011, along with First Aid Level 1, 2 & 3 as well as Instructor. Arthur also trained in Snake Handling, Identification and First Aid. Back at the Police Service College, he did Street Survival Training (Practical) & Legal Principles for handling a firearm in law enforcement and military environment.

2018 Arthur passed as an Advanced Level Firearm Instructor.

Arthur Wells worked at Gordon’s Bay Security Trust t/a GMED Rescue as a Medic (BLS) and Basic Ambulance Assistant / Basic Life Support Health Care Provider. Thereafter he worked as a High-Risk Operator at QED Logistics and a Tracking Officer at Net Star. Arthur has served as a Constable Reservist for various units in the South African Police Services.

Currently, Arthur is an Instructor at TSU Training Solutions, in Cape Town.

Bob James Bob James - Instructor (Gauteng)
Bob started as a Lance Corporal at SADF in 1990 till 1992. He then moved over to the Security industry from 1994 until 2010, where he gained a lot of knowledge and experience. He continued with his career path in this industry and became an Instructor, facilitator, Assesor and Moderator in 2011.

Bob James joined TSU Training Solutions in 2018 as an Instructor for the Skills Training Programs.

Ingo Holden-Smith Ingo Holden-Smith ‐ Instructor (Gauteng)
Ingo started working in the security industry in 2001 where he formed part of a surveillance team. In 2003 he joined SBV services where he qualified as a fulltime instructor. At SBV services he received training in Security Grade Training, Specialized Security Training, CIT and Firearm Training.

He also assisted in the facilitation of an advanced selection course for an elite tactical team, as well as training this unit. He served as a member of the unit and participated in special and classified tasks. He was key in the development and presentation of an advanced instructor program and a professional training unit. During the surveillance and counter surveillance program he presented practical exercises. He was also instrumental in the development and implementation of a recruitment program for new employees.

In 2006 Ingo started doing freelance work for TSU as an instructor and operational member. During 2007 he spent a year in West Africa, where he gained valuable experience as a Team Leader He was part of a group that performed Asset Protection & Security Consultation related work.

With over a decade of experience in training, and various operational tasks Ingo joined TSU Protection Service in 2011 permanently.

Ingo is a qualified Assessor and Moderator with SASETA; a Training Counsellor with ITA (PFTC) and an Assessor for Defensive and Advanced Driving Instructors. Ingo is also registered with HABC as a Level 3 CPO Tutor, he is also an Instructor in Conflict Management, Control and Restraint Techniques and Physical Intervention Training.

Lena Josephus Lena Josephus - Instructor (Cape Town)
Lena started in the security industry in 2001 as a senior security in Shoprite and Checkers stores, working for a company by the name of Statio Security. In 2007 she was promoted to their Head office as Operations Co-ordinator with duties that included, but was not limited to, administration, employment terminations, diary management of Ops manager and General Manager, opening and closing of premises and induction training to all new staff.

Due to her retail experience, she was selected to form part of an audit team that did audits in various Shoprite and Checkers stores. In August of 2012, Lena joined Natpro Security as a senior security in the Shoprite and Checkers stores. Her responsibilities included duty rosters, implementing of Loss Control policies to combat Shrinkage, retail induction to new employees, relieve area manager over weekends, handling and balancing of petty cash.

Lena then joined AM Security in 2014, where she worked as senior security in their Retail Division. 2015 Lena was promoted to Retail instructor at AM Security, then later in 2017 she was transferred to TSU Training Solutions as a Retail instructor/facilitator.

Joseph Lehlohonolo Dalela Joseph Lehlohonolo Dalela - Instructor (Gauteng)
During Joseph’s years as a policeman he was involved in countless medium to high risk operations as well as training. Training assisted him to become an expert in fire-arms, urban training and rural training. He worked numerous times as the counter assault team for the Former President Jacob Zuma and Deputy President and heads of states who visit the country. Joseph was deployed during the 2010 soccer world cup as the national reaction team at different venues during the teams stay in The Republic of South Africa. Some of his duties since 2008 have been Execution of hostage release situations, Execution of high risk search warrants and combating of specialized criminal activities. Assisting in rescue and search operations on land and water. Providing escort and close protection to high profile VIP’s including the number 1&2 of RSA and other foreign dignitaries. Undercover operations. Complete and pass STF physical and fire-arm assessments as per standards. Maintain vehicles and vessels as per 108 and complete necessary inspections and documentation. Present Preparation and Conditioning Phase, Weapons Phase, Rural Phase, Survival Phase training in the STF.
